BANSEA appoints Ramesh V. Raghavan as Chairman

The Business Angel Network of Southeast Asia (BANSEA), Singapore, the region’s oldest angel investment network, has appointed Mr. Ramesh Raghavan as its Chairman.

Raghavan who is a former investment banker and FMCG marketer has been a long-term BANSEA member, having held roles as BANSEA Vice- Chairman, BANSEA One* director and BANSEA Two* Investment Committee member. Raghavan is a start-up enthusiast, especially in areas such as fintech, and is an advisor for start-ups on business strategy and on alternative investments for family offices and emerging funds.

He succeeds Mr James Tan who will remain on the board of directors. On his new role, Raghavan says: “BANSEA’s angel network has a rich blend of successful entrepreneurs and corporate executives in its network, with multiple domain expertise and connectivity across the world. We hope to use their bandwidth more effectively to enhance our engagement with the start- up community, while simultaneously exploring game-changing investment opportunities. I am thankful that we have a very experienced board, which includes past Chairpersons, James Tan and Dr. Mark Hon, continuing to guide BANSEA on its journey of being a significant and leading player in Singapore’s start-up/angel investing journey.”

Over the next year under the new Board leadership, BANSEA plans to continue to strengthen its engagement with and contribution to the start-up ecosystem in Singapore. The network’s activities range from mentoring and advising start-ups to educating and bringing on more business angels into its platform to contribute to Singapore and ASEAN’s start-up communities.

BANSEA will work to enhance the pool of business angels in Singapore and explore deeper and better interactions and engagements for our members. The network strongly believes that post COVID-19, Singapore’s start-up and angel universe will be bigger and more vibrant, with plenty of investment opportunities.

*BANSEA One and Two are investment vehicles for BANSEA members interested in participating in angel investments.
